From time to time, there are interesting subjects that
are posted to me via the Internet email. What I like to do is
capture that moment in history for others to read.

I am just now going through some old e-mails and saw your reference to the window of opportunity. I didn't understand
however, if you subscribe to this theory. would be interested in your humble opinion.

Window Of Opportunity - the Wayne Smith Version
It basically goes like this...
1) When the stoma is smaller than a certain size, you will tend to lose weight.
2) When the stoma is larger than that size, you will be able to gain weight.
3) The longer that you have WLS, the larger the stoma will get.
4) So, with a RNY type surgery, sooner or later, the stoma will dilate to the point that you no longer can lose weight, but start
to rise.
5) The time from the surgery to the turning point is the "Window Of Opportunity" - If you don't lose the weight at that time,
you cannot lose the weight.
6) Now with the AGB surgery. When the stoma starts to dilate and the weight loss stops, you get an adjustment to re-size the
stoma.
7) As the stoma size is controlled, there is no bounce back, weight gain.
8) Therefore, No "Window of Opportunity" with AGB or Better to say,
9) That with AGB surgery, the "Window of Opportunity" is Indefinitely long.
